There are many Christmas markets. Almost in every town. Especially in every big city. One of the most beautiful Swiss Christmas markets is in Basel. Today, on 26 November 2020, it is time again. Everywhere in the alleys there is the smell of hot punch and spicy mulled wine. A baked apple here a hot waffle with cherries there. And in between a crispy bratwurst. They say Christmas is the most stressful time of the year. That may be so. Because a lot of things are postponed until the end of the year. Besides, the presents for Christmas have to be organized.

A lot of things are going online today. I personally like the atmosphere at the Christmas market very much. And I like to watch the stressed out people doing Christmas shopping. That doesn’t stress me out at all. I enjoy the hustle and bustle, the scents and all the colourfully decorated Christmas stands. Just take your time. Stroll with your loved ones through the Christmas market in Basel. There are more than 180 illuminated stands on Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz. In the inner courtyard of the town hall, the huge book is laid out for all Baslers and their guests and is filled with hopes, wishes and private thoughts.
